I know that if we do not act, the state of Alaska will run out of money in a year. We must stop giving oil companies massive tax breaks. ConocoPhillips has made $5.2 billion in profit since 2016, but only paid 16.5% in taxes, while In Texas the rate is 30%. We Alaskans own our oil, but we’ve literally been paying them to take our resources, and that’s not right or smart. Voting yes on the Fair Share Act (Ballot Measure 1) is good for Alaska and fair to oil companies.
